American Dance & Music is a not for profit, tax-exempt organization. Founded in 2006, AD&M invigorates and strengthens the fabric of our community with culturally diverse performances, dance instruction, and outreach. The organization is committed to inclusion and access to dance for Santa Barbara and its surrounding area. AD&M’s new space (2017), The Dance Hub, fulfills a critical aspect of our mission to alleviate the pressing need for rehearsal, performance, and instructional space within the Santa Barbara performing arts community. In its third year of operation, The Dance Hub has become a home for youth, adult and senior students as well as choreographers and instructors. During the COVID-19 pandemic, all AD&M classes have continued virtually.
- The Dance Hub is home to AD&M, and a variety of local organizations and instructors. With two professionally equipped studios, TDH offers programming for students of all ages, and provides affordable teaching and performance space at below market rates, as well as rent subsidies to non-profit performing arts groups and scholarships for children and youth.
- AD&M Performance Group—A professional group that advances and celebrates the art of dance performance, promoting new choreography that draws from classical and contemporary elements, including original music and works by guest choreographers. Noted by local reviewers for its engaging repertoire, the company has established itself as a vital and respected professional performing ensemble in Santa Barbara.
- Dance: Up Close & Cultural is AD&M’s community outreach program that provides important enrichment, exposure, and access to dance. In addition to performances at TDH, AD&M Performance Group and guest performers visit schools, senior centers, and afterschool programs, bringing dance to where the need is greatest.
- The Dance Hub Performance Group provides AD&M’s adult students the opportunity to enhance and develop their technical skill and artistry in a professional environment through ballet classes, rehearsal, participation in the creation of new works, and performance.
